Governors
Meet the Governors

Mr Ian Hunter
Chair & Foundation Governor
Hello, I have been a governor at our school for almost 10 years. Both my daughters were pupils at Holy Family with the youngest recently transferring to St Mary’s Catholic Academy.
I enjoy the understanding I have gained about how the school works from the head and teachers. I look to reinforce our vision in all decisions we take.
I am delighted with the skills our governors bring to our meetings. We are determined to aspire to ever improving standards at our school.

Mrs Julie Hutson
Vice Chair and Foundation Governor
Mrs Hutson has been a governor at Holy Family for 3 years. She has one daughter in Year 4 and a son who is yet to start school.
Mrs Ellen Davies
Vice Chair and Foundation Governor
My name is Ellen Davies. I am the Deputy Chair and a member of the Curriculum Committee. I have been a school Governor for 15 years. I have been actively involved with the school and parish for over 40 years. I am the Playgroup Leader, so it has been good to see the children develop in a caring and happy environment. The school has improved over the years with a dedicated staff team which keeps the children at the heart of all they do.

Mrs Vivien Pickup
Foundation Governor
My reason for being a governor is to assist the Headteacher and her senior management team in achieving a good to outstanding school. To better assist, the governing body have just done a skills audit and as a result taking on 3 new governors to fill highlighted needs.
I get back as much as I give from both staff and children. There's such a welcome when I go into school and I always go home with a buzz.
Mr Danny Scott
Local Authority Governor
My name is Danny Scott and I joined the Royal Navy, Fleet Air Arm, in 1971 as a Radio Mechanic. I was stationed at Portland in Dorset until 1977. I then joined the Prison Service where I worked in several prisons as a Physical Education Instructor in the North East before moving to the North West in 1994 as Physical Education Manager at Lancaster Castle. I moved to Blackpool seven years ago where I became interested in politics and was selected to stand as Councillor for Warbreck Ward in last years Local Elections where I was fortunate to be successful in my first attempt.

Miss Margaret Simpson
Foundation Governor
I have been connected with schools and education all my working life. So, when asked to be a Foundation Governor at Holy Family Catholic Primary School, I felt I could support both the children and teachers. As a parish catechist, I have also helped prepare the children for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion.
Sister Margaret Ochigbo HHCJ
Foundation Governor
Hello! I am Sister Margaret Ochigbo, I belong to the religious order of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus. I have just been appointed as a Foundation governor. I started working in Holy Family in the Autumn Term of 2018. I have serviced in different roles in schools in Nigeria and recently as school chaplain when I moved to England in 2016. I enjoy working with the parents, staff and pupils in Holy Family School.
The school has high standards in terms of the Catholic faith which is well demonstrated in the life of the School. Being a missionary and with education as a background, I am looking forward to contributing to the development of the Christian faith and Catholic ethos in the school. Also, creating strong links and enriching the existing life of the school and parish community.

Mrs Esther Lowe
Foundation Governor
Hello, I’m Esther, my son Daniel attended Holy Family last year and I know how extremely lucky he was to attend such a caring school. My parents were both teachers and I worked as an administrator in a Blackpool school until recently so I am very aware of the pressures and challenges that our school staff and teachers face every day. I hope that by joining the Board of Governors as a Parent Governor I will be able to give something back to school & to the staff that have done so much for Daniel. I hope to make a positive contribution to the work & life of the school.
Mrs Ewa Bradford
Parent Governor
My name is Ewa Bradford and I have three sons- two at St Mary's Catholic Academy and one at Holy Family. I am relatively new to the role of governor but I am looking forward to being more involved. I currently enjoy volunteering at school, helping children learn to read and I am also fortunate enough to be able to support staff on various school visits and trips.

Mrs Helen Moreton
Head Teacher Governor
Hello. I am Helen Moreton, Head Teacher Governor. I have had the privilege ofbeing part of Holy Family Catholic Primary School since September 2005, so have now seen several classes of children progress from EYFS to Year 6. I also very much enjoy ex-pupils visiting school to chat about how they have been getting on since leaving primary school. It's also rewarding to listen to their ideas of what they would like to do in the future. Another area that I enjoy, is working with parents and the parish community for the benefit of each pupil. Holy Family School has Christ at its centre and our Mission Statement, 'In all things, love', is lived out in every area of school life- it's a very special community!
Mrs Tina Hopes

I work for the Local Authority, Governor Services. I support Governors by taking minutes of their meetings and providing advice on governance. I have worked for the service since November 2018 and support a number of different schools and academies in Blackpool. I am really looking forward to working with Holy Family School.
