Governors

Governance Statement.

Governors would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard in school during the last academic year to provide an outstanding learning environment.

Academy.

We are progressing with the bishop’s invitation to join the Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust. Lots of hard work is being undertaken and all being well, we will join the B.E.B.C.M.A.T. at Easter, or thereabouts 2024.

Faith.

Father David Burns continues to support us in our school with both whole school and weekly class mass’ being celebrated which are greatly enjoyed by our children.

Being part of The Catholic Cluster of Blackpool schools continues to allow us to work together.

Our Section 48 inspection will be this year using the new frame work.

R.E. week was based on “ Season of Creation.”

The First Holy Communion Celebration in June was a massive success, congratulation to the children who received this and also those who received the sacrament of Confirmation.

Please enjoy the school canvas hanging in the hall created by our children. Some of our children’s work is also displayed in church, please lets us know what you think of it!

School were delighted to attend mass in Church again after a long absence, well done to the child who participated.

Curriculum.

A special emphasis has been put on writing.

Meet the teacher mornings were a great success and will continue this academic year.

Our education extends beyond the classroom with many visits “out of school” to support the learning, including cinema trips and themed dress up days.

School have put a focus on Physics and are looking to develop the curriculum in this subject

School are also to include “Outdoor Learning” to support our curriculum.

Despite the size of our school we excel in interschool sporting events and both year 3/4 and 5/6 teams reached their respective Lancashire finals; incredible!

We will offer parent evenings.

Independence and Individuality.

Staff, morale and mental health are reported to be well despite recent social challenges.

We are hoping to continue a more normalised pace to school life.

Our attendance is in line with other schools at 94.9%.

We will again look to invite parents into school under the advice of the Director of Schools.

Community and Environment.

The government will continued to provide vouchers for eligible children over the holidays.

Our Lentern “over 55 coffee afternoon” was a great success , it featured a selection of songs from our school choir.

We will continue to support the children fundraising for many great causes, this year they will feed a child for a whole year, wow!

Governors wish Mrs Barnes all the best on the arrival of a future pupil.

Long time governor and previous chair of governors Mrs Vivien Pickup has resigned as a governor. We would like to thank her for her excellent service and wish her all the best in the future.

School always encourage parents to consider becoming a governor and help support and challenge the head teacher. Anyone interested in learning how you can do this should leave their details at reception to find out more.

Thank you,

Ian Hunter

Chair of Governors.

Mr Ian Hunter

Chair & Foundation Governor

Hello, I have been a governor at our school for almost 10 years. Both my daughters were pupils at Holy Family with the youngest recently transferring to St Mary’s Catholic Academy.

I enjoy the understanding I have gained about how the school works from the head and teachers. I look to reinforce our vision in all decisions we take.

I am delighted with the skills our governors bring to our meetings.  We are determined to aspire to ever improving standards at our school.
